Unconditional: Baby Adam's Story
Sat, 08 Nov 2014 09:30:00 +0000
In recognition of Orphan Sunday, the orphan care ministry is excited to host Jessica and Raja Paulraj to share their family's adoption story!
In 2011, Baby Adam was born in India with Bartsocas-Papas Syndrome - a rare genetic disorder that caused him to have multiple complex medical problems. Jessica & Raja worked at the hospital where Adam was abandoned, and felt God calling them to adopt him despite the enormous challenges that lay ahead. For more on Baby Adam's journey, check out the Paulraj's blog here.
Join us on Saturday, November 8th to hear Jessica & Raja share about this journey and God's faithfulness. We'll talk about the call to Christians to care for orphans and fatherless, especially the children who are costly or difficult to care for. We'll also have opportunities to learn about fostering and caring for orphans beyond adoption, as well as a chance to connect to resources offered through the orphan care ministry like our Lifesong Fund and mentoring program.

Meet & Greet Stoplight Party for 20s & 30s! Food Buffet, Drink Specials!
Fri, 21 Nov 2014 19:00:00 +0000
Come join in on Awesome Random Adventures next Meet and Greet... we're going to do one of our Stoplight Parties! This has been by far the most requested event and easily one of the most well liked events we've ever put together. Come spend a Friday Night doing a fun social mixer with Charlotte's best 20s and 30s social group. You're going to get a food buffet for the 1st 2 hours, free cover to multiple Uptown Bars and Restaurants, prizes, drink specials, huge stack of $25 Gift Cards will be raffled off (Several Hundred Dollars Total Value), icebreaker games to help everyone mingle, an afterparty with a free drink, and a whole lot more. This event is going to be a Meet and Greet, Speed Networking/Meeting, and a Similar Concept to a Lock and Key Party all rolled into one amazing event. Most those events cost around $25-$30 each and they don't include food, a Free Drink, great after parties, and don't have any where near the attendance we get for our events.
Our last Stoplight Party was a huge success with hundreds of people attending and this will be even better! It's been a couple months since our last one and can't wait to do another one! Whisky River is going to add more Icebreaker Games this time to help everyone mingle.
Drink Specials that night are $2.50 domestics, $4 Wells, and $5 You Call Its.
For those of you not familiar with a Stoplight Party... it's a party where you will get a wristband that's either Green, Yellow, or Red. The concept is the color green means that one is single. Red means that one is in a relationship, or not looking for one. Yellow may mean "unsure" or "maybe," The purpose of a stop light party is to decrease the apprehension associated with approaching people at parties. It also serves the purpose of providing an easy indicator of one's unavailability. The color codes derive from the traffic light signal colors indicating red for stop, yellow for caution/slow down, and green for go.
About the icebreaker games: These are designed to help everyone get to know each other better but you're not required to join if you don't want to. It's great for people that get a little nervous going to events (especially if it's one of their 1st). Whisky River is going to have several icebreaker games setup with all of them designed to help everyone mingle.
7-8pm is our Pre-party with appetizers from Whisky River... these guys always do an awesome job for food at our events and I'm looking forward to what they'll offer this time.
8-10pm Social Mixer. We will have icebreaker games, competitions, and a few other things to help everyone mingle and meet some new people. Raffle at around 10pm to give away a huge collection of $25 gift cards plus some additional prizes I'll be posting soon. Grand Prize Winner will receive a Gift Card Package to several Epicentre venues!!!
10:15-11pm Moonshine Fest at Rooftop 210. This is our 1st afterparty and it's completely optional. Show your wristband at the check in table and get a ticket to Moonshine Fest for only $5! You'll get to sample several different kinds of moonshine. You don't have to participate if you'd rather skip it that's perfectly fine. We've done a few fest's like Cider Fest and these events always get great reviews from our members.
Afterparty: Tilt on Trade is giving everyone with a wristband their 1st drink FREE. We will get there around 11:15pm and hang out for a hour or two.
Then we will move over to Suite to end the night... they're offering us Free cover with your wristband.
Appetizer Buffet from Whisky River
Appetizer Coupon for a future visit to Whisky River
Free Drink at Tilt on Trade
No Cover into Suite
A chance to win Gift Cards from several venues in the Epicentre.
Add all those up and it's going to be another fun night for everyone who comes out and I hope you join us!
Cost is $10 and will cover everything needed to do run the event, staff to host it, wristbands, party props, drink specials, food buffet, Free drink at our Tilt afterparty, discount ticket to the Moonshine Festival, and it'll help put together a Grand Prize Package for the winners. You can either paypal the money to me at firstname.lastname@example.org or you can do $10 cash at the event.
This is a paid event so please be aware of that before you sign up. You'll need to pay for a wristband in order to participate. Cost is $10 whether you show up late, whether you only want to do some events, whether you want to go home early, whether you want the food buffet or not, etc. The only other cost would be if you wish to get a ticket at Moonshine Fest.
Random Questions I've got on this event: You don't have to be single to attend this event. I didn't want to exclude anyone looking to be more social or make new friends. Whisky River is going to help us promote the event and that'll help bring in additional people. So you can meet a lot of new people in 1 night. I'll post more info on the afterparties soon but it will definitely include free cover wherever we go. Free Cover, Food, and your 1st drink free at Tilt alone are worth more than the $10 price of admission.
The party is easy to find... just walk into Whisky River and ask for the stoplight party. We should be in the private room on the left side of Whisky River. We will have a check in table for you to get your wristband.

WHAT IS ADODI
Adodi is dedicated to the mutual acknowedgement, acceptance, appreciation, & affirmation of same-gender-loving men of African descent. Our purpose is to foster & encourage the self-discovery, validation, empowerment, & liberation of all members of our diverse community. We provide a safe space to same-gender-loving men of African heritage who seek a better understanding of their own spirituality, self-expression, & sexual identity. During the last 26+ years, same-gender-loving brothers have gathered under the banner of ADODI to affirm, celebrate, & honor themselves & each other.
THE SIX PRINCIPLES OF ADODI
We seek alignment with the Divine Energy that unites & centers all our spirits @ the beginning & closing of all we do.
Honesty, Openness, & Clarity
We stand personally responsible for communicating thoughts and feelings in a sincere & concise manner. We clearly & fully articulate our ideas, suggestions, insights, & needs while being mindful of our body language.
Sensitivity to Feelings
We utilize active listening as a means of respect, acknoweldgement, & validation of the feelings or viewpoints expressed & implied by our brothers, whether or not we agree with them.
We reach out to support & assist each other in a caring & effective manner. When coming face to face with each other around sensitive & challenging issues, we always address each other from a place of love & openness to facilitate healing & intimacy, versus aggression & antagonism which leads to hurt & distance.
We take collective care, within the bounds of all we do, to allow space for individual members to achieve closure on matters discussed, while monitoring the process & the time constraints. When necessary, we can establish a specified time & setting where unresolved matters can be further explored.
